We saw this particularly nice set of Dandelion flowers along the banks of nearby lanes, about a week ago.

Testing our latest flora publication – Out and About – Discovering British Wild Flowers – usefulness for identification, you need to go to the back of the book to look for the same kind of flowerhead. In this case there are two that would fit.

   

Yet only the one on page 79 has the same kind of leaves. Maybe we need to add a leaf guide in addition to the flower guide.

This book is meant for children, but it still needs to helpful to identify our most common wild flowers. Throughout this year we will check it out.
