RSPB nature wardens are on the sharp end of nature conservation, and Peter Howard seems to have had his fair share of excitement along with the hard work. In this slim paperback, he shares his experiences, such as guarding a hen harrier s nest near Hadrian’s Wall, watching a short-eared owl mobbing a fox, and cutting reeds at Titchwell on the north Norfolk coast. Some interesting conservation background information is woven around the stories.
